WHAT IS AQUAPONIC?

What can you breed and grow in the aquaponic farm?

Unique aquaponics

Aquaponics is combining aquaculture and hydroponics. It is combination of breeding fish and growing vegetables and herbs in a nutrient solution without a soil medium. All of that happens in closed recirculating environment. Aquaponics respects natural cycle of things and creates quality items: fish meat, vegetables or herbs.

How does it work?

Fish are bred in tanks from where the fertilized water flows to plants roots and they take required nutrients. Clean water then goes back to tanks. This semiautomatic system saves your time and work. It reduces water consumption and produces almost no waste. Fish and fresh vegetables are grown for the whole year with minimal input and costs, without the need for artificial fertilizers or “chernozem”. An aquaponic farm is ideal investment for farmers, biogas stations owners, investors and entrepreneurs. Payback is 4-6 years.

On an aquaponics farm fish and vegetables are grown from the same water.

What can you grow and breed in an aquaponic farm?

  • Lettuce – all kinds
  • Tomatoes
  • Rucola

You ideally grow one kind of fish and plants in a single aquaponic system. Plants can be combined in a small number based on optimal growing conditions. For example you can grow lettuce and some kinds of herbs and breed koi.

  • Strawberries
  • Raspberries
  • Blueberries
  • Lemons

Aquaponics isn’t the same as hydroponics

Have you heard about hydroponic growing of plants? It differs a lot from aquaponics. Aquaponics uses natural fertilizer: fish excrements, bacteria turn these into nutrients, which plants are able to absorb. That’s why you don’t have to add any other fertilizer artificially like in hydroponics. Aquaponics works like nature and is returning to the roots of agriculture. Fish and plants themselves are controllers of water quality.
